Geoff Keighley selaku produser, telah mengumumkan setiap nominasi untuk The Game Awards 2022, dengan God of War: Ragnarok dan Elden Ring memimpin dengan masing-masing sepuluh dan tujuh nominasi.
Ajang ini menyuguhkan total 31 kategori. Beberapa di antaranya seperti Game of The Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, dan masih banyak lagi.
